Charles Curtis, III is a poet, songwriter, spoken word artist, and business owner, hailing from Camden, NJ. Some of his most notable performances include participation in the “Urgency of Now” panel discussion curated by WHYY, performing in the Calabash Literary Festival in Jamaica, performing for CPAC (Community Planning Advocacy & Council) and The NJ State Theater. With a bachelor's in Political Science from Kean University, Charles chooses to synthesize both his poetry and political knowledge to encourage community interaction with local government. Presently, Charles has utilized media to engage with the community updating the city on local news as well as connecting them to art and entertainment events happening locally. Charles has accomplished this by working with local production company -CamdenOne, to disseminate the information to the public. Currently he is the founder and owner of Broken Minds. Broken Minds LLC utilizes creative art as a form of therapy for inner city residents. Charles is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. he was initiated into the organization in the Spring of 2011.
