I am a scholar of Asian American representation and media; othering in Korean popular culture, and audience/fan reception of Korean popular culture. I've published two books - 2nd Generation Korean Americans and Transnational Media: Diasporic Identifications (2015, Lexington) and Whitewashing the Movies: Asian Erasure and White Subjectivity in U.S. Film Culture (2022, Rutgers). I was a Fulbright Senior Scholar to South Korea in 2018-19.
