I am from Beijing, China and came to the US as a graduate student in 1986. I got my MS from Columbia School of Library Service in 1988, Certificate for Advanced Librarianship in 1990, and doctoral degree in 1997. I worked in Wagner College as the Head of Technical Services/Systems from 1990-1996. Later I came to work at Rider University.
I have been working with library systems for over 20 years. I started in Wanger College when there was no computer network there. I went to professional training and started by building an ethernet network of bus topology. I set up a Novel print/file server and connected the network to a remote server in Westerchester, NY, via a modem. I later worked as a LAN and CD database librarian. In 2000 I took over integrated library system.
I got Fulbright projects twice, one in Bahrain and one in Kosovo.
I love my work, my colleagues, and my institution-Rider University. In the US there are opportunities that are not available in other countries. America is a great country.
